I began writing this piece before fully understanding the poem, although it's obvious to me now.  I started writing music that was a simple celebration of basking in the warm summer sun.  As I continued writing the music, I re-read the poem I got the sense of something deeper happening here, something troubling.  As I was uncovering these sobering emotions in the poem, I guided the music through a similar journey of change.

This piece is a celebration of a beautiful life and soul who has warmed my heart.
